Decanter magazine has awarded La Violetta’s Up! Shiraz 2014 93 points in its July 2018 issue.
In a panel tasting of Australian Shiraz judged by Tine Gellie, Roger Jones and Anthony Rose it was Highly Recommended, scoring an average of 93 points with Jones scoring it 95/100.
The wine was described as “full-bodied but focused… cool-climate Syrah, with restrained elegance and great quality fruit that’s tinged with pepper.”
165 Shiraz were tasted – all priced £15 and over – and all three judges were impressed by the selection on offer in this premium category.
Up! Shiraz is an intense, elegant and balanced Shiraz coming from three sites in the ‘spice belt’ south of Mount Barker. It is hand-harvested, then destemmed without crushing before fermentation in small open top fermenters. It’s finished off with 12 months in new and used French hogsheads.
