This week saw the annual 2018 Young Gun of Wine awards take place in Tasmania, and Aphelion winemaker Rob Mack picked up the prestigious Riedel Young Gun of Wine prize.
The Mclaren Vale winemaker – whose Aphelion wines joined the Knotted Vine’s portfolio late last year – was thrilled to pick up the prize.
“I could not be happier right now, this is a win for us but it’s also a reflection on the melting pot of creativity in McLaren Vale,” he said. “To be picked at the top of this list of truly awesome winemakers is a testament to our family’s winemaking values.”
Young Gun of Wine Awards celebrates the best emerging winemakers in Australia and takes place annually. Previous winners have included Matt Gant of First Drop and St Hallett, Michael Downer of Murdoch Hill and Ocean Eight’s Mike Aylward.
The following three red wines from the Aphelion range are available in the UK exclusively through The Knotted Vine:
• Aphelion Grenache ‘Berry’ 2016
• Aphelion Sagrantino 2015
• Aphelion Mataro 2016
